I have spent 20 years in the polymer and specialty chemicals industries, following receipt of a B.Sc. in physical organic chemistry from Aston University in the U.K.,
and a Ph. D. in (what was then called) biophysical chemistry from the California Institute of Technology.
I also received an MBA from Heriot Watt University in Scotland.
My specific technical and managerial experience was obtained at Du Pont, Ciba Specialty Chemicals, and Tredegar Film Products.
I have been writing and prosecuting patents for 10 years and have been a member of the California Bar since 2010.
Most recently I was responsible for all global patent filings and intellectual property management for the Tyvek(R) business of DuPont. In this role I also developed the IP portfolio of DuPont's nanofiber and nanoweb efforts. The effort has included end use applications in the areas of filtration and separators for energy storage (battery and capacitor.) I have been responsible for writing and/or prosecuting patent applications globally, including drafting responses to the USPTO, advising foreign agents, preparing appeal briefs, and coordinating with the Tyvek(R) business and technical functions on patent strategy. I also managed DuPont's licenses in this area, both in and out.
